And you know, seeing the names together like that, I'm having a bit of a "duh" moment. I mean, Squeenix is sort of beating us on the head about the whole "Zack is Bizarro Cloud!" thing. It'd have to be "Fair", or something equivalent. It has to counter "Strife", right?

I always tend to think of Cloud as Bizzaro Zack, myself.

But they are both so, so pretty. Though they aren't even attempted to make Cloud look like a boy anymore.

There are indeed worse names to have. Anyway, just adding me two cents here, but wouldn't Sephiroth's last name be 'Cresent'? Same as his birth mothers? After all she never changed her last name, and I'd assume that at the time of Sephiroth's birth Hojo was still kinda pretending to play by the normal rules. Or something. Of course that would mean that Seph never got to see his own birth certificate. And wouldn't that be a nifty little fic, someone finding Sephiroth's BC and depending on the person finding it the angst/crack that would ensue.

Bad! Down! Anyway, this comment has already gone on longer that I expected. But anyway. Zack Fair doesn't sound too bad. Sorta makes me think center ring and big tops but eh. Better than being Last Name Unknown I suppose. ^_^

There are worse last names. Just not sure how I feel about this one. I'm sure it'll grow on us, though you just know it's going to lead to a spat of pun-filled fics. My wives have already started on it. *looks at forgottenlover and kemis*

Most of my fics are AU. Which is why he ends up with Valentine as a last name in at least one. >.>

But I suppose it's mostly a matter of time. I'm just happy they finally decided to give him one.

...wow. Can't say I'm fond of the name, but it's amazing that he's gotten one now.

My favorite fics are the ones where people don't even try to make up a name for him at all - they figure out ways to write around needing to mention his last name. In the end, it feels more natural.

...I think I'm going to stick with those sorts of fics.

And thank god that Sephiroth doesn't have a last name (yet). He's Sephiroth. He doesn't need a last name!

I always went with the theory that where he was from, they didn't use last names. So he doesn't have one, besides maybe "So and so's-son"

Ew, ew, EW. Fair? That sounds Rrreally, really wierd. I myself have read so many fics with all his fanon last names that I'm conditioned to believe them as canon myself, but still, you would expect something a little more.... Interesting. Something asskicking!
