[insanejournal.com profile] hime1999 this is all your fault. You and that talk we had last night. All yours. And to think I thought about getting sleep.

Alter!Series Drabbles. Spoilers for 51. What happens to Masuta is all Hime's fault, as it was her idea. Rest of the series can be found here.

First one:

Red

He had expected it to hurt more.

It was a shock to look down and see bright red staining his shirt. And it did hurt, if only in a distant way.

Everything seemed to freeze around him as the echoes of the shot rang out. He wondered vaguely if they had used the same gun they had used in Munich, on Hohenheim. If they had, it would have been amusing, in some twisted way.

Everything seemed numb. He thought he heard voices, maybe a bell chiming. He was sure he smelt the Thames, and wished it had been as clean as the creek that had run by his home.

Then a hand gripped the back of his shirt and yanked him behind the wall. It was just as well, as his legs gave out at the same time, and he sank to the ground.

There is a voice speaking to him, and he’s sure he heared his name. However, his attention is still caught by the spreading red stain. Still, he had a duty to discharge.

“Home,” he whispered.

Masuta was sure he heard a scream.

And then there was nothing.

This one is an experiment. Something I did just for the fun of it.

Doorway

This wasn’t supposed to be happening.

It was a quick clean-up job that had gone wrong. They had taken down Professor Hohenheim, but then his son had escaped. Then they had to chase him and the Jap down, finally pinning them in a warehouse in London. One of the others had shot the Jap before the pair had gotten behind shelter, but from the sound of the kid’s scream, they hadn’t gotten far.

They hadn’t expected what they had found as they rounded the corner.

A doorway, one full of darkness and twisted eyes.

And the boy, sitting in front of it, the Jap’s body in his lap. His eyes were the same weird shade as the Professor’s, one of the hunters had time to think.

Then the boy had said something, and black things came from the darkness in the door.

They started to scream with they first began to lose body parts.

By then, though, the boy was gone.

And now for the last one I wrote last night.

Family

Once the Gate began to eat the men who shot Masuta, Ed twisted away. They were his sacrifice to the Gate, but that didn't mean he wanted to watch them dissolve, even if they had shot his friend. He just hoped it would be enough for what he planned to do.

Death created the Gate in this world, and it was only luck that Masuta had been right on top of Ed when he had.... Ed had been able to feel the power, so much like the last time he had been on this world. Still, it had hurt to feel it.

Masuta had been there for him since they had first met. They had worked together, lived together. They had teased each other, joked with one another, fought each other as well as others.

Family wasn't only in bloodlines. Ichiro Masuta was as much Ed's family in this world as Hohenheim was.

Ed couldn't help his father.

But he was going to help Masuta.

His sight blurred for a moment as Ed pulled open Masuta's bag and took out the notebook the man took everywhere. It was such a part of Masuta that Ed had a moment of unease taking it. But that was the point. Something that was purely Masuta was what he needed.

Setting Masuta's body gently on the floor, Ed tightened his grip on the notebook. Then he rose and plunged into the Gate.

Into darkness.

Gods, I a freak.
