No, you don't need to write Zack as the odd relation of another character in the game. You need SOMEONE ELSE to write Zack as the odd relation of another character in the game. That way you can distract your muses with something else.

But no, if you don't want to write it, don't write it. Just jot down some outline notes. I find that often appeases the plot bunnies with the illusion of progress/obedience, and they go away without me having to actually write a whole story.
