Disclaimer: PuppetKitty is an evil idea given to me by
pegunicent. This is all her fault. And
chibirisuchan's fault for me claiming it here. And I, sadly, don't own FFVII, or else there would be an anime and a hell of a lot more Zack. *nods*
Stalled
Hojo was a scientist. He was cool, calm, collected. He did not display unnecessary emotions when they were not needed.
That was the only reason his displeasure showed through in the tiniest of creases between his eyes as he frowned slightly instead of a disgusted sigh. He was, after all, a scientist, and driven by greater things than mere emotions.
The project to clone/recreate Sephiroth was not going so well. Some of it had been doing marvelously. The mako acceptance was up; the reaction time was far above expectations.
However, for every thing that was proceeding to or better than planned, a dozen things just…were not. The specimen was taking longer and longer to come out of the trances it pushed itself into. The control was becoming more violent ever time they took the specimen away. Hojo had a theory that the violence was somehow linked to the secondary project they had started with the control. And more little things, one on top of another that simply made it hard to tell if the project was going in circles, around and around and no way to escape it.
There must be some way to discover a breakthrough.
Possibly a secondary experiment?
The thought made things click in Hojo’s mind, and he smiled the small thin attempt at the pleased expression somewhat disturbing while on the man’s face. He moved to the computer and turned it on. A few moments of searching, and he nodded. Standing, he went to collect his prize. At least here in Midgar, he had access to proper specimens. Would have to take the samples back to Nibelheim on his next trip out, so that the entire project was together. However, he could start it now.
The newest addition to the cloning project looked up with wide blue eyes and mreowed loudly as Hojo collected her cage. He reached in and pressed his hand against her side, nodding as he felt the firmness that was offspring.
Now, could start the mako treatments now, would add Specimen C’s genetics when they moved to Nibelheim. Once the offspring were born and developed a bit, he could attempt the project done small on them. See if he could discover why the change over had stalled on Specimen C.
Cats were such wonderful creatures.
