This is for
forgottenlover's birthday. She wanted a fic that invovled the triplets, Cloud, Envy, Ed, Al, and Roy. I hope you like it, my dear.
Inside the Gate, everything is darkness and light. It jumps back and forth, jerking those inside around as if to make them want reality once again. Inside of it rests knowledge.
Inside the Lifestream, there is only the steady glow of white. It soothes and stills the soul, lulling one into a relax state, and showing that reality isn’t everything. Inside of it rests wisdom.
They are two sides of a coin, two variations on a theme.
Sometimes, the two sides of a coin will meet, and there is chaos.
Four brothers entered the Lifestream at the same time. Three of them curl together, green cat eyes only half aware as they watch their golden haired elder drift away. He seems unaware of them, and it hurts them to realize it.
In the Gate, three more brothers, two with golden eyes and one who’s shape keeps changing, also enter. Both are dead, yet both live in their own way, and the knowledge of the Gate is there for the taking, though their hatred of each other prevents them from touching it.
On one side of the Gate, the younger golden eyed brother reaches out and finds his own path into the lightdarkness. At the same time, a dark haired man falls. He isn’t related to any of the brothers, though he has his own connections to the ones tied to the Gate, and that provides its own path.
When the youngest brother reaches, he twisted everything hard, just as his golden eyed sibling did once, all those years before. It changes things in the Gate to enable souls to live again, and the Gate requires the Lifestream’s aid. And the Lifestream answers, dragging along with it those who still haven’t become part of it.
Bright blue eyes open to meet their much darker counterparts. “Who are you?”
“I.... I don’t remember. All I remember is fire, and that I have a duty to fulfill.”
A pause, and the man with the blond hair and blue eyes blinks. “Funny. That’s all I remember as well.”
Eyes full of slitted pupils and fearangerhatred meet, three of green and one of violet. “You are not our elder brother,” whispers the green eyed one with long hair.
“And you aren’t my younger ones. Be happy, for else you would have died,” the violet one replied.
Two other brothers, both with golden eyes, hugged each other for the first time in far too long. Words were not necessary for them, and this is what they have been working towards for years.
Then, with the help given by the Lifestream taken, the Gate reaches for its payment, and its green cousin fades away. One of the golden eyed brothers vanishes, while the other awakens back into his reality. The man with dark eyes will not wake for a while, and will discover that he has only one eyes and dreams of burning blue eyes. The brothers with the green eyes will not remember much for long, as they finally find the happiness they were looking for and join the green of the Lifestream. The other cat eyed man found himself trapped elsewhere, seeking someone he cannot forgive. And the blond haired man will wake up in his reality once again, lost and alone, remembering only the meeting of another who was like him and the farewells of his friends.
Two worlds met when one soul was traded for another. Two places separate in reality and dreams, touching each other for just the barest of moments, and leaving only memories. Leaving only the desire to learn more.
That is the true power of knowledge. That is the true reason for wisdom.
Happy birthday, FL. Hope you enjoy.

If so, I'm glad. It was interesting to write. I knew the Gate would be good for something.
