I've noticed a few things about my prefered writing/reading habits.

I like it when my favorites get hurt. I like to see them getting banged up, and then fixed by people the care about. I like it when they are hurt, and there is angst because nobody is sure if they are going to get better. Actual, physical damage. Shot, stabbed, broken limbs, sick. Emotional damage is okay, but I like it when they bleed. Accidental damage from their friends makes me perk up to watch. It's the best of both worlds, that is.

I'm an Evil Fan, and damn proud of it.

In FMA, I like it when Ed gets the crap beat out of him, and ends up being patched up by Roy or Al. In Firefly, I enjoy reading about Simon being hit by something thrown by someone who's pissy over medical attention. In seaQuest.... Well, hell, in seaQuest, I was one of the bigger ELFs out there. The Invisible Man, Quicksilver Madness was just made for me. Bleach is just aching for me to hurt Ichigo. The Real Ghostbusters' Peter is just looking for something to damage him in some way or another.

I know that it isn't uncommon for people to show Evil Fan tendencies, especially those who like the less written about characters. It focuses things on our favorite characters, and tends to stick with them. Not always the case, but normally it is. But I practically shiver with happiness when any of my favorite H/C writers update, or when I see a summary that includes the phrases H/C and my favorite characters name.

Once or twice, I've had a few strange looks from people as I babble about my favorite fics, and I've even had someone ask if I was sadistic. I don't think I am, I just enjoy watching my favorite characters getting banged up. Is that so weird?

I wonder how many others are like that. I know that seaQuest had a whole group of us. ELFs were everywhere. Evil Lucas Fans had yahoo groups and archives set up just for that. I think they still do, but a lot of us older fans fell out due to new people to hurt. But I never see large groups of H/C or EFs any more. Are we a dying race? Did we just meld a bit better with everyone else and don't feel the need to seek one another out anymore? Or were we driven apart due to other peoples comments about how freakish we are?*has personally be told she was a freak for liking H/C so much* I was always curious about that. Anyone have any theories? Comments or suggestions on how we can see EFs out once again and hang out with each other?

Okay, I'm done babbling. You who did pay attention, thank you. If you didn't, well, it's not like you see me waving bye or anything else.
