Have you ever had one of those fics that you've reread and found you were really rather proud of?

I was looking at my old Saiyuki stuff, trying to get back my feel for the characters, and I found this fic. Dreams of Long Ago. A few misspelled words here and there, but I find myself amazed that I wrote this story in less than a day. It sits at about 5000 words, and that's an insane amount for me. (sadly, I will never be one of those writers who can produce large amounts of fic in a single chapter of a story. Most of them average less than a 1000 words)

I like this story. That doesn't always happen with my own work. I might think "Hey, this isn't too awfully bad", but I rarely really like my stories. I like other peoples stories, and find myself wishing I could emulate them. This one, I like. Saiyuki, in my opinion, was some of my best work. More reviews per story in that fandom than in any other. Songfics that actually didn't totally suck. (I might bring them over to my fic journal, which I really need to update.)

I've been trying to find more Saiyuki Gaiden because I have a few stories that I want to write in the fandom that never got done. So now I'm splitting my time between Saiyuki, FMA, and Bleach. Have threesomes in all three, which amuses me.

This is a fic I would actually pimp out. It's set in Saiyuki Gaiden, and is a bit of an AU and a lot of "I can see this happening". The actual summary was this: What would have happened if Nataku hadn't restrained himself at the birthday party? Set in the same universe as Remembering.

Okay, babbled enough. Hope you enjoy this blast from the past. *laughs at self for using a really bad phrase*

LoL, I do the opposite. I look at my old fics and go "omg, wtf was I smoking?" and hide in shame XD Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Saiyuki, except it has something to do with the Monkey King legend.

I love my old stuff. I had a pretty shoddy vocab, but HELL I could spell! Can't now - damnit!
