This so needs beta'd. Is the next part of the Crimson arc on HoS.
Envy felt trapped. Smothered.
He was trapped, and he wasn’t.
He remembered the time he had spent in the Gate. When the doors had finally cracked open, he had fled through them, tired of the darkness and the things that were almost cousins.
And then, though some dumb luck, he had seen right before him one of those people he had hated for so long.
After years of those eyes and grasping, clinging fingers, Envy hadn’t really hated Fullmetal so much, but instinct and old habit took over, and he had attacked.
He was still in his serpent form, and it had been ridiculously easy to coil around Fullmetal and tear at him with razor sharp teeth.
He didn’t know when they actually fell, only the muted sting of hitting water hard.
Only it hadn’t been water.
The red liquid was stained ever darker as blood had clouded it, and Envy could feel the stones that sat in his stomach beginning to respond to the incomplete stone around him.
In his coils, Fullmetal suddenly seemed to collapse as air had rushed from him. Envy had watched, distracted, as his enemy sucked in the liquid. He wondered absently what type of effect that would have on a human body, one that was quickly trying to bleed out.
Then the human had managed to free his arms.
When he brought his hands together, there was chaos.
The stones that Envy bore burned. He howled into the light that was surrounding him as the pain tore though him. Crimson filled his vision as everything vanished into a blaze of light.
That had been earlier.
Now, he sat in the middle of a library. Books lined the shelves, and Envy saw that there were names written in the back of them.
High up on the shelf, there was a word written. In large, red letters, the word Philosopher’s Stone was easy to see.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
Turning, Envy saw that Fullmetal was sitting at another of the tables that scattered the area. “Where the hell are we, chibi?”
The taunt was ignored, and Envy realized that something else was different. Fullmetal wasn’t full of metal. His limbs were not automail any longer.
They had been just moments ago.
“This,” growled Fullmetal, “is my head. Get the hell out.”
They had fought, and Envy had tried to leave this place that responded to his opponent’s very will, but he couldn’t.
He was trapped. Even though he could move around, he couldn’t get out.
Finally, when both of them were panting and ready to stop, Envy took the first step. “I don’t want to be here, chibi, but I don’t know how I got here.” He glared at the blond, suspecting that it was his fault.
“I don’t either, you bastard. And stop calling me chibi!”
“Then what should I call you? And how can we get me out of here?”
“My name is Edward, and I know you know it. As for what we do to get you out of here….” Ed looked around, eyeing all the books. “We have to find out how you got in here and research from there.” Now gold eyes glared at Envy. “But I can’t do that if you don’t stop attacking me. I don’t want to be doing something and find you trying to take my body.”
A moment of silence, then Envy nodded slowly. If need be, he could always kill the boy after they had gotten Envy out of his head. “I don’t want your stupid, frail, human body. Get me back mine, and then I’ll kick your ass.”
Ed snorted. “That will be the day.”
The sarcastic comments were there, but so was the agreement to getting Envy back his own body.
Envy could deal with that. For now, anyway.

Their spine?

Sort of an odd sounding sentence.
That is all I see. Hard to notice stuff in my drugged haze. ^_^;
