*amused* Jooooin.

25% done with missions.

Met Cloud. He's adorable.

And there was a glitch somewhere. They say Zack is 6'3". Sephiroth is only 6'1" according to the book with the original game. Something does not compute.

I figure it's called "retconning". Seph's just had his height bumped up by a few inches, is all. Maybe another six or so. Either that or the lifestream was a bit hot when he landed in it, and he shrank!

I figured as much, too. But it's still funny. From what I can tell from the posters and such, Cloud is only a head shorter than Sephiroth. Which is about six inches or so, which works with Seph being 6'1 to Cloud's 5'7.

*just keeps with the idea of Zack being 5'10 or so*

Yeah, I figure Cloud's on the short side of "normal" (which for a bloke would be about 5'7"), Zack's about middling (roughly 5'10") while Sephiroth is tall (6' plus). Why they decided to make Zack 6'3" for CC is beyond me (I presume it is CC you're playing? It still isn't out yet in Australia - ah the joys of being considered part of Europe by Squeenix's marketing peoples). I mean, for a start it gives Cloud another 5", which brings him up to 6' even, and he's shown as being somewhat less than height-gifted in the original game.

I figure from Cloud's perspective, he's a normal height, and everyone else is just too damn tall (I figure he's got the same sort of view I do - I'm 5'2", which is on the short end of normal for female persons). I know I don't notice I'm short until I'm up next to someone taller - as in, right next to them. So Cloud presumably *thinks* of himself as normal height, and nobody really notices he isn't until he's right up against them.

Actually, when you consider their overall market, we do fit into the European sector better. For a start, when it comes to releasing games, we're on the PAL TV standard (as opposed to the US NTSC one) and we're pretty much a nation which primarily speaks European languages (English, Italian, Greek, Macedonian etc). So I can sorta see their point.

My main frustration is their European website is apparently updated on a once-a-decade basis, and doesn't list any of the FFVII further canon releases (DoC, CC, etc). Makes it very hard to figure out when things are going to eventually hit our shores.

Maybe the receptionist who says that is a twit and is exaggerating about her idol? ^_^;

Heh, when we read that, [insanejournal.com profile] bard_linn and I figured it was the hair that made the difference XD

Zack's a decent height, but he ain't THAT much taller than Aerith's supposed 5'4". (Again, interesting, since she was only 5'3" in the original game manual, just as Cloud was only 5'7" at age 21 -- and now he's suddenly supposed to be 5'8" at that age? What, did everybody put on at least an extra inch or something? Or did somebody screw up somewhere in the centimeters-to-feet conversion?)

ja, it's probably a measurement thing.

they DO count Zack's hair, they DON'T count the 2" heels Seph wears, or the peaks of his bangs....

*throws rocks at amazon*

I know I've already played amazon, but where is the copy in the language I'm fluent in, eh?

Zack clearly found a new materia that causes growth. Not only does he now get to do victory dances when Seph only comes up to his chin (and periodic noogies, as he was too short to properly distribute Seph his share before), but a quick zap of it explains how Cloud fit into his SOLDIER gear, post-Niebelheim.
