This is for
croixsouillees for her birthday. I will have to write actual Sephiroth/Cloud soon for her. I tried here, but Sephiroth is a stubborn bastard.
Hope you like, dear.
He had been feeling agitated for no real reason that he hated it when someone ordered his SOLDIERs around. Even if it was Shinra. Nobody had the right to go around him like that, especially when they did it in a way that made him believe that they did it to just take away his support system.
“General Sephiroth, sir?”
The soft voice made Sephiroth look up from his desk, and he paused. It was Strife, who was holding a box.
“Yes?”
The tone of his voice made the boy pale slightly, but the stubborn set of his jaw told Sephiroth easily enough that he wasn’t going to scare the child off. “Zack asked me to bring this to you. I’m sorry it’s so late in the day, but I wasn’t able to get it until just now.”
Actually, Strife was lucky that he had caught Sephiroth in the office. The day had past far faster than he had expected, mostly due to the fact he had spent most of it fuming. “Did he?”
Strife nodded. “After he found out about the orders. He wasn’t very happy, I don’t think. “ He moved closer, and offered the box to Sephiroth.
Curious, the man took the box. Opening it up, he started blankly at item inside. “What is that?”
Leaning closer, Strife looked as well. “Zack said it was a,” he paused, obviously trying to remember the word.
It was somewhat refreshing to have someone so open-faced around him. Not having to try to figure someone out was one of the reasons Sephiroth enjoyed Zack’s company.
“Mille-feuille,” Strife said finally, looking up at Sephiroth, then pausing, eyes going a bit wide as he realized how close he had gotten to the man.
“What is that?”
That question just got a shrug. “I have no idea. Looks like a dessert of some type. He said he was sorry he hadn’t gotten to be here today.” A slow fidget, which did move the boy out of his range, and then Sephiroth found himself the focus of the blue-grey eyes. “What is so special about today, Sir? Zack said that I had to find you and give you this today, even if I had to go to your rooms and keep pounding on the door.” A slight blush. “He even told me where your rooms were.”
“Hmm.”
Sephiroth pondered a moment, looking at the desert. There was a note in the top of the box, and he read it carefully.
How like Zack.
“It’s my birthday. As much as I know of it, at least.” He closed the box and stood. “Do you have plans for the night?”
That got a startled sound from Strife. “I, um, no Sir.”
A nod. “I would appreciate it if you joined me. Zack said I should spend time with someone, and you are someone he considers friend.”
Someone who Sephiroth had heard a great deal about as well.
Perhaps, he decided, studying the boy as the blond verbally stuttered, he would get to see what it was that intrigued Zack’s so.
It would be nice to have another person, who wasn’t from the labs, to speak to.
