Just got the call that my brother is being called over to Iraq. Goes in January, won't be back for a year. My mom's upset about it, and I can't blame her.
It was a bit of a shock. He's one of two paralegals that got assigned to go. We'll find out more eventually, but, yeah, my mom is really unhappy over it all.
*hugs back* Thanks. We're hoping everything will be okay. His poor little girl is going to be so confused when he goes and doesn't come home for a while.
I can't believe that they are still sending people over there. Pardon me, but the whole thing just makes me sick.
I wish you, your family and especially your brother well. *hugs* I wish he didn't have to go at all. You have my support for him as an individual, if not for the acts of war.
That really sucks. I am terrified that my little brother will get called up to go after he gets his commission. I really really want this whole mess over with. *crosses fingers for your brother*
Yeah, this is my little brother, so I'm a bit flaily over him. And he's got a little girl who'll be two in January. He just got back from his time in boot camp a few months ago, and now he's going again.
*sends hugs* Condolences and best wishes to you and your family. A close friend had a brother sent over last year, so I have some idea of how hard this sort of situation is - I will be hoping for his safety and happiness, and yours as well.
I can't imagine what you must be going through right now. *hugs* My thoughts are with you, your family and your brother, and I hope you all get through this okay.
*hugs* I really don't know what to say but I'm sorry that you and your mother have to deal with the worrying and sorry that your brother's going to have to go half way across the world for a bunch of BS.
*hugs back* It really is a bunch of BS. Can't wait for this stupid war to be over. I'm hoping that he'll get back safe and sound, along with the others who are over there.
That would be nice. Worst part is that his daughter won't know who he is again when he gets back. She was bad enough when he was gone for his training, and that wasn't anywhere close to a year long.
Oh hunny, I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through, Mikey is due back by Christmas if all goes well. -hugs- I really can't think of anything to say that doesn't come out trite. Care packages. best way to ease the worry over here, pack a lot and you kinda feel like you're doing something.
I feel like some random stalker, but I just wanted to say that I really feel for you and hope your brother stays safe while over there. My brother was fine the first time he went over therem but the second time - and I swear I don't mean to scare you or anything, 'cause there's thousands of troops over there and only a small percentage of them get hurt - he got really hurt when he stepped on a mine, and is currently in the hospital. So.. I just wanted to say that I know how you feel, and yes, it's scary and you can't help but think up the worst scenarios when you stop to actually think about the fact that he's over in a place where anything can happen, but you still gotta keep a smile on your face and stay happy on the phone whenever he calls so that he doesn't have to worry about how his family feels back at home along with stressing over his job there. It's gonna be hard, but I'm positive you and your family will pull through. I'll be praying for your brother's safety.
