Yeah, I finally wrote one. I need to add more later. I get the feeling this is just going to be the first tiny part of the story.
He was tired. Really, really tired.
Gasping for air, Zack wondered if Cloud was okay, and that made him twitch up slightly, falling back as that reminded him just how bad he was hurt.
Stupid troops. Stupid bullets. Stupid Shin-Ra.
He didn't want to go like this, leaving his friend here, out of it and vulnerable. It wasn't right. They couldn't have gotten so far just to have things go wrong just in sight of the goal. Hadn't enough things happened to them over the last few years? Especially to Cloud. Cloud didn't deserve to die out here, or go back to the labs. He deserved the chance to wake up and be free again.
The sound of something moving didn't even register through the haze of pain and growing numbness. Not until Zack saw Cloud push himself up next to him. That caught his attention, and he focused as best he could on the other. Awake? That was good.
Then he saw the sparkle of something soft in Cloud's hand, even as it was almost limply shoved against his chest.
Pain flared up as the hand hit the injuries, even as the injuries started to repair.
Down. Where had Cloud gotten that?
He didn't know, didn't really care at the moment. Cloud was looking at him expectantly. Blank expression, sure, but there was a definite expectant tone to it. Zack wasn't sure if this was going to be enough, though. There had been a lot of bullets. But he couldn't ignore the expectant look.
"Kay, Spike," he rasped, breathing hard, and he knew he was still bleeding bad, even with the down. Maybe, though, maybe he could do something with this. "I'll get up. Just...give me a minute."
Even as he said it, he felt his eyes shutting, and even his stores of energy giving up. Not the strange, chilling numbness of before, but the more familiar sensation of blacking out.
He hoped he woke up.
As everything went dark, he was sure he heard the sound of chopper blades.

Love how Zack is still reassuring even when bleeding out all over the floor. And yay for Cloud and phoenix downs!

Zack's very good at reassuring. It's very part of his Zackness. And we all want Zack to wake up.

From:

Indeed! We must find them a safe habitat for them to live in peacefully.
From:

And we should. Where they can live, and breed, and breed more.... *is a pervert*
