Curse you encouraging people. It's just a bit of scene, but gah!

Cloud glared at the men who stood between him and the door. "Let me pass," he said, expression dark.

"We can't let you take the demon out of the village," said the ANBU softly. "There is too much danger."

Cloud's eyes glowed, and the ninja before him shifted slightly. They had all be trained to avoid conflicts with Mako users, but they had a duty to keep the demon vessel where it could be watched.

"Naruto is not the Kyuubi," the blond said, anger clear in his eyes.

"Besides," came a second voice from behind them, "that is the kid's cousin, and I'm pretty damn sure that you guys have all sorts of laws saying that clan obligations come first."

The leader of the ninja turned, and almost sighed. Zack grinned at the reaction, his own eyes glowing fainting. That made the contacts in his eyes burn slightly, but he didn't dare take them out while in a hidden village. Especially around the ninja in said village. If they saw Zack use the Sharingan he would never be rid of them. Either they'd be after him to join their village, or they'd be trying to kill him to keep him from joining someone else's village.

Honestly, ninja were almost as bad as Shin-Ra when it came to family secrets.

*headdesks* This hit me on the bus this morning, after I posted that last snippet.:

Cloud remembers clearly when he first met Zack.

Cloud's mother is a retired kunoichi. On her last infiltration mission, her legs were almost irreparably damaged, leaving her unable to continue being a shinobi. A month after that, she discovered that she was pregnant with Cloud, whose father was unknown, and that, combined with her injuries, convinced her to move a small town in the mountains of northern Fire Country.

She left behind a brother, who was younger than her by almost a decade.

Life in the village was difficult for the both of them. The villagers were wary of the former kunoichi, superstitious of her superhuman abilities, and that superstition transferred over to her only child.

Cloud was a small child, as when his mother was pregnant with him, she almost miscarried him several times as a result of her injuries. This made him a target whenever the villagers were ever being particularly malicious. It was because of this that he always looked forward to his Uncle Minato's visits, who would take him out and teach him the arts of the shinobi and just generally be a good male role model for the boy.

Then, one day, his mother decided to go and visit his Uncle in Konoha.

He was excited to see the large village which was all but myth to the young boy. When they got there, Cloud was in awe of the large dwelling, and his Uncle was in great amusement over his excitement. Uncle Minato and Aunt Kushina led the boy around the village, showing off the sites. That night, Cloud had fantastic dreams.

It was the next day, however, that truly changed Cloud's life.

His Uncle was going out to meet his genin team for training, and asked Cloud if he wanted to tag along. The boy was ecstatic, finally being able to see his favored Uncle in action. When they arrived, two of the genin were already waiting, and he became shy as he was introduced to Kakashi and Rin. After that they had to wait, during which Rin entertained the young boy by asking him questions of what he thought about the village.

Finally, the third teammate arrived, and in tow was a younger boy who was around Cloud's own age.

Introductions were again made, and then Cloud was left to watch with the other boy, who had been introduced as 'Zack' and was Obito's younger brother. Apparently, he was there to see how real shinobi work together in a team. The other boy was so animated and lively, that Cloud couldn't help but stare. He also touched a lot, which disconcerted Cloud a bit. They spent the whole afternoon together, playing and getting to know each other better as the team worked, and Cloud relaxed a little.

The rest of his stay in Konoha was almost constantly spent in Zack's presence after the other boy had gotten it into his head that Cloud needed a friend. He showed Cloud so many things that his Uncle didn't the first time around the village, and he coerced Cloud into playing pranks on people. By the time Cloud had to leave, he was loathe to go.

They kept in touch, Cloud coming to visit the village more often now, and eventually they turned into the best of friends.

And so it was with little surprise that, one night, a few years later, Cloud heard a tap at his window, only to find Zack on the other side, telling him Obito was dead and that he was leaving.

And asking if Cloud would come with.

*squishes them both* Awwww. Poor Zack. And he went to get Cloud. Go, Cloud, go!

*snuggles them* So cute. Minis. Why are they so cute as minis?

*gives Zack another squish* Poor kid. I can see why he wouldn't want to be a ninja, but it seems like he got the whole "never leave someone behind" lesson well enough.

That second one turned out waaay longer than I thought it would. It was less a drabble, and more of a ficlet. Definitely needs editing...

Yes! Go, Cloud, go! He needs you, Cloud! Needs you!

They're so cute as minis because of their loveable personalities and spiky hair!

If he hadn't gotten that lesson, then he wouldn't be Zack! But seriously, he probably needs Cloud along as a familiar and friendly face on his new adventure.

I'm already planning more fic, too... *headdesk*

Just imagine, big eyes, bigger hair, and tiny little people. *squeezes them*

Gods, I feel almost as if I should start a com for this or something.
