Sometimes, having five people living together is hard. Zack isn’t sure how it happened. It used to just be him and Cloud, and he was okay with that. The place was big, so it was quiet, and he had finally gotten used to it. So it was a bit jarring when, after Seph spending so much time here, the man had simply just moved it. It was easier both for their socializing and the job.
And, of course, after Seph moved in, the twins did just about the same, though they did keep their separate home, even if they rarely used it.
As he had found himself in relationships and the beds of the other four, Zack found himself having to split his attention in new ways. It was interesting, he would give it that, and he did what he could to treat each of them as special as he could, because each of them was different, and he didn’t want to be like some of the demons he knew, who had a set of lovers and treated them all alike. He just could not understand the mentality behind that.
Cloud he knew the best. The man had raised him, was his adopted parent, and he knew that got a few looks when people found out. Of course, Cloud was also immortal, and had the strangest set of morals that Zack had ever seen. But the man was strangely easy to deal with. He and Cloud had their rituals set up long ago, such as sitting up late at night, usually alone as the others found this an odd hobby, and making fun of bad movies. It was messy, as they usually did things like throw popcorn at the screen, or end up in wrestling matches over commentary as it got snarky and fast. Sometimes the wrestling went into something more, but usually it was just the pair of them, goofing off and having a fun time together.
Chaos was another easy one. The man was smart, just as smart as his brother, but he was still the one who took after the twins demon mother more, and he enjoyed a good scuffle. Sometimes, Zack would spar with Chaos for hours, until both were dripping sweat and panting for air, skin showing bruises that had taken hours to put on to the point they stuck. As they fought, they would trade stories. Not all of them were personal, not all of them real, just stories that they had heard over the years. It was interesting, and Zack, when he had first met Chaos, had never thought the man a collector of fairy tales. It just didn’t seem to fit, but Chaos was fascinated with how different groups of people could come up with stories that sounded so similar at times. Or to see how different stories dealt with the same ideas.
Vincent was a little harder. More like their human father, he was better at hiding what he liked, not quite as free with it as Chaos was. However, he did share his brother’s love of stories, and it was interesting to compare versions with him. Not to mention that Vincent had slowly started to appreciate Zack’s fondness for flea markets, and the pair of them would sometimes roam for hours, finding the oddest little things and buying them for gifts for his pack and his friends. It was nice to spend time with Vincent away from the others, because the man opened up more, and would talk about the things he and Chaos had seen before.
The oddest of the bunch was Seph. For someone so tightly focused at times, it was strange watching him relax. And when Seph relaxed, he did it like he did everything else. Completely and with amazing attention to detail. Seph loved to read, or have someone read to him when he was tired, and usually used someone for a pillow. For as anti-touch as he was outside their place, he had a tendency to latch onto one of them in the home and maintain contact. It seemed to help soothe him, and so none of them argued. Zack found that, with a hairbrush and some patience, he could reduce Seph to a purring puddle of silver haired goo.
Which, of course, meant he did it as often as he could.
It was hard, at times, to split his attention four ways, and Zack was proud at how good he had gotten at doing it.
And that was just inside the home, too. Now he had Aeris as well, and he was learning to adjust to add in one more.
That was his life, and he enjoyed it. No matter how tiring it got at times.
