Words from [insanejournal.com profile] pegunicent, and done in exchance for more of the Itachi/Zack universe. What can I say, I like that pairing.

Heat

He doesn’t remember much when he was tiny. Heat, sharpness, soft fur, cold. Everything was a confusing, jumbled mix.

Then he heard the call.

He left the place that was complicated and strange and went to a place that was even stranger, but had nice food and people who scritched, and the shiny calling person was there. And the human thing, and blond scratching post.

They didn’t hurt. And they weren’t cold.

He decided to keep them.

Kettle

“That’s a kettle. No, I can’t make it cook faster.” A sigh. “Tifa, he wants to know if you can make it cook faster.”

“No.”

“He wants to know if you can make it go faster if he gives you fishies.”

“The only fishies he has access to is my koi from Yuffie, and I’ll remind him of what happened last time I caught him trying to get one.”

“Mrrrreooooow.”

“No, cat, I’m not going to safe you from her if you try to eat her fish. Again. Damnit, now he wants to know why it takes so long?”

“It -doesn’t- take that long if he was just a bit more pati….”

Shrill whistle of the kettle.

“MRROOW!”

“Well,” snickers, “I don’t think he liked that. Cloud, pass me the hotmitt.”

Quilt

That….was too cute.

Yuffie covered her mouth, as if her grin might wake the guys up.

Cloud and Zack had been up talking still when she had finally wandered to the guest room of the small living space, and they must have fallen asleep doing so. After that, at some point, someone, probably Tifa, had covered them with a quilt. The cat had joined them.

She needed a camera. Something to capture the image of Cloud and Zack curled around each other, the cat snuggled up with them, and all three looking so sweet it made her teeth ache.

Ninja time.

Mow

While traveling after the call, he and the cat would find the strangest places to rest. One of the best that wasn’t a real room was a mow full of sweet smelling straw.

It was the simple things in life that Zack was learning to enjoy. Stretching out on softish hay with a cat curled up soft and purring on your chest….

That was living.

Pet

They both thought of the other as the pet. The cat and the blond scratching post.

Zack would have to fight not to giggle every time they fought about it.

Hardest thing he ever had to do in his life.
