In
landels, we ended up deciding Hojo used Zack as an attempt to recreate the Chaos experiment. It didn't work right, and so was abandoned. Well, the basic idea still intrigues me, and here's fic based off it. Blame
kemis for the concept. Her fault.
Confused
He growled at them when they came to close. The experiment was going well, but having to dart the elder man whenever they wanted to get near the younger was getting a bit tiring. But they did it anyway. The reaction they got when they drew too close demanded they sedate him. He had already killed one scientists, and crippled three more, even with sedatives.
Most of them knew who he was. He had been on the news more than once. Both as the focus and in the background. None of them asked why the second in command to Sephiroth was here. No one dared.
The one with him wasn’t anyone important, a face none of them recognized. But he was the main source of the testing. Mako and Jenova, things pressed into his skull and muscles and bones. And whatever project Hojo had been using the dark haired man for made it all that much harder to separate the pair of them.
There was talk about removing them from the cell they were in and keeping them fully in the Mako tubes. It would speed up what they had planned for the blond, and maybe keep the black haired man from damaging any more of them.
When the orders came in to put them in the tank, more than one of them sighed, even as they readied themselves to deal with the pair.

Ever since that day Hojo had ordered the others out of the lab and focused his attentions, heshe hadn’t known what was going on anymore. Was male, but female, and very confused to have two sets of thoughts running through hisher mind. Body was male, definitely male, but thoughts were of both. Heshe could feel the clashing they had over things, though one thing drew them together. Protect Cloudcubmate. When the scientists tried to take him away, they defended him with parts they hadn’t had before, fang and claw and every bit of strength they had. Hojo seemed pleased, but they couldn’t stop. Not when they were hurting Cloudcubmate.
Then they had stuck them in tubes, and they had clawed at the inside, putting long thin lines in the glass, snarling at them as best they could, because they -heard- them. Heard them say they weren’t going to take them back out. And they barely heard them. It was muffled, but he saw Cloud had heard them as well. Blue eyes, now glowing with the Mako, had widened, and Cloud had also snarled, they could see that as well.
Something had told them to stop, and they had. Now they waited, the lab as quiet as it ever got, and they clawed at the glass again when the place had gone quiet. Then they paused again as something not lab-like moved out of the corner of their vision.
Red was the color of blood and chemicals. Not the color of things that moved. And this red moved. Flowed like cloth.
And cloth it was.
Wrapped in red, the man silently killed the few scientists who stayed in the lab, and they watched him move closer, realizing that he was like them, something that wasn’t just alone in his head. Making a soft sound, they scratched lightly at the glass, adding faint lines to the set of deeper ones. The mandemon nodded at them, and he moved to a set of controls. They didn’t know what he was doing until suddenly the Mako was draining and they were free.
They stayed where they were, watching the others as he moved forward. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
“Who are you, child? You woke me up, and I would like to know who to thank.”
He asked them, and they couldn’t answer. They didn’t know. With a faint whine, they shook their head. They couldn’t even tell him if they were human or demon or something in between, just that they were. Hells, they couldn’t even tell if they were really male or female at the moment.
“I’m Vincent. Come one, we’ll get you two....” A pause. “Three. The three of you out of here. Maybe we’ll be able to figure things out for you later.”
Nodding silently, they helped him collect Cloudcubmate, who was still unconscious from what the scientists had done to him earlier, and followed him. Vincentdemon smelled like them, and they wanted to know what they were. If they were demon or human or something else.
But, for now, free was good, and they would ask later. After they washed the smell of the labs off their skin and could smell clean dirt and air. That would be good.
The End
Basic idea is that Zack has a female demon living in his head, and she's got them both confused as hell. It's a fun idea, and I may have to play with it more.
Let me know what you think.
