Twilight and Dawn

The twilight of his life started with gunfire and pain.

He sat there, hurting from more than just the fall, gasping and begging him to wake up, to stop bleeding. He knew he was screaming, and only fell silent when violet eyes slowly opened, hazy and full of something he didn’t want to know. He knew that the other wasn’t seeing him any more. He was seeing something that shouldn’t be seen.

He begged him not to go. Begged and pleaded even as the red continued to spread and the look faded, though the eyes still glowed.

When the look, the awareness faded from the other’s eyes, he faded as well.

And the sun set for them both.

The sun dawned, slowly, when he looked up and saw two figures there that shouldn’t have been. One smiled at him softly, green eyes bright with joy and contentment. Beyond her was him, same violet eyes, still holding secrets that weren’t his to know yet, but still calm and cheerful.

That was when he realized that it wasn’t all dark anymore. Gleam of dawn in the presence of others who wanted him to stay with them.

She asked, and he smiled for them, a small smile, true, and it was for all the things he had lost as well as what he had found, but it was a smile. And, for them, it was as bright as dawn after a long, dark night.

Aw, this was nice. Just that little tragic tint to it and it was wonderful, also with the ending. The format is ok, but maybe you could include the characters and pairings involved.

Beautiful! Very simple, and yet striking. I love stories involving the friendship between Zack and Cloud. :) And I really like the idea of scene 1 being "Twilight" and scene 2 being "Dawn."

I love Zack. I love Cloud (perhaps a little too much for my health... *eyes Cloud-overloaded room*). So put them together and it's an instant hit with me :DDD

I really liked the first line in particular. I guess Cloud's 'life' did begin the day poor Zack died. His fake life, anyway. Ah, so tragic. But that's why we love it.
