Learning
“The specimen….”
“…and give me three units of….”
“…dose next time, you….”
He didn’t know what was going on around him, or why they are doing these things to him. He feels a pull, a tug, to go somewhere, to find someone. He doesn’t understand that either. Only that he wants to go, and he can’t.
Things are getting a little clearer every day. Words he hadn’t understood the day before suddenly make sense, and new information was added to old a little at a time. It hadn’t taken long to know what needles did hurt, or that the green stuff burned and was coldcold at the same time. But now he knew what they called him, what they were trying to do.
He knew what the whispers he heard were starting to say.
Drowning in information, he struggled to keep his head above the water, everything getting sharper and faster and more there the long he was here. More and more was starting to fit inside his head, and the more he knew, the more he realized he did not like this place. The more he realized that, the more he understood that they were not going to let him go. That they were going to keep him here till he went away for good, like the little squirmy ones he used to sleep with. Like the warm one who had washed him.
He wanted out.
As he was lowered back into the coldhot green, he forced his eyes to stay open, ears as well. Was going to find a way out of here, before they drowned him for good and he was too lost in everything to be free.
