There is something rather interesting about the idea that Sephiroth had a stage in his life where he actually thought of Hojo as "Father". The line in the Nibelhiem flashback in the game could be taken that he knows Hojo is such, but Seph's very contempuous of it by then.

How old is Seph suposed to be? I once worked out he's 9 years older than Cloud, so if Zack is only 2 years older than Cloud he'd be 6? Ahh well, he at least has an adult who will be taking care of Zack as well - until Zack's old enough to understand orders I supose.
Which, thinking about ages... Aeris and Ifalna aught to arrive soon, shouldn't they? There's something cute about Ifalna acting like a kind-of surogate mother figure for Seph.
