First off, [livejournal.com profile] seanmonster, here is the community I was telling you about.

Second: Everyone remembers what it was like when you first got into fandom. You didn't know what a lot of the terms people threw around meant. Well, [livejournal.com profile] seanmonster, the creator of [livejournal.com profile] side_quests and I are going to try to make a fandom primer. What I need is for everyone to think back to the days when you were young in fandom, and didn't know what things like pwp, BNF, slash, or lemon/lime/citrus meant. Toss me those questions. Post this to other places so people can toss us the questions they remember having. Hell, maybe drag some of your newbie friends this way and have them asked. Hopefully we'll be able to answer them in a fun and informative way. And I know that all of you have/had questions. We'd rather have general fandom stuff at first, but if you got something fandom specific, toss it out as well. Be good to have a place for stuff like that to be answered.

OTP, scanlation, yaoi, yuri

::tries not to blank, tries not to blank::

AU, crossover, fusion, fluff, sap, angst ::thinks::

I was severely unfused at the naming of pairings at first, as well as the term drabble.

Canon and squick. I didn't know what either of those was at first. I'll think of more when my brain works.

MST, angst (I've been asked, but most people seem to know), TWT, Mary Sue, GIP (more for LJ than fandom, but...), RPS (though it never came up for me), seme and uke

That's all I can think of. ^^;

genderbending, crack, arc, ficlet, any gundam wing pairing, Sue/Stu

I couldn't figure out "gen" for the longest time. ("...next generation? No?")
"FTW" in reviews.
Meme, though that's a little more lj.
AU, AR.
R&R, but I figured that out pretty fast. And oneshot.

The numbers for Saiyuki pairings (I can understand why they'd number Gundam Wing pairings, but why Saiyuki? o0), UST (took me a while to find that one out), woob, fanon, shotacon, mpreg, erm... all I can think of for now.

*is too lazy to sign off now*

OC - with the OFC and OMC variants - OOC, AU, WIP, waff, canon, seme/uke, Mary Sue, UST. Also, the damn debate on the pairings Dude1/Dude2 versus Dude2/Dude1.

I'll comment again if I remember anything else.

OTP and all it's variations, MPreg, WIP, the difference between ficlet/drabble/oneshot/etc, lemon, lime, gen, slash.

From: [identity profile] fireworks-lee.livejournal.com

let's see...I understood AU's cause of X-er fandom. I don't get the numbers thing for GW and never have. *thinks* differences between Lime and Lemon*thinks more* I remember having t6o ask what MAry Sues were.
