Next part of Images. Tossing it up hear so I can get some beta reads by anyone who wanders by.

Tell me what needs fixed, and if it looks good to go, tell me that as well, please.

More than anything, it was the way Al shook in Roy’s arms that made Roy and Riza worry. Al was always the calm one. If he was this badly shaken, then it was a sure sign that things were bad.

“What happened?” Riza demanded from the circle of Masuta’s arms. Her expression was one of worry and fear.

Masuta was able to ease the fear some. “Ed’s breathing on his own. They had had to take off his automail. All of it. Even the ports.”

“Winry is going to be furious,” Al mumbled, face pressed against Roy’s hair. “She always said the ports are the hardest things to set up.”

“Do they know what caused this?” The look in Roy’s eyes said he wanted to know who he needed to kill slowly and painfully.

Al pulled away enough so he could look at Roy and Riza. “The man Niisan was after found a way to link two arrays. When Niisan stepped on one, the man activated it though the second one. It did something to the automail. The doctors say they aren’t sure what’s wrong.”

Beside Riza, Masuta was muttering in Japanese. The others had been around him long enough to pick out several foul words. “They’re treating the symptoms as they come,” he said finally in English, tone definitely not happy. “They say since they don’t know what’s wrong, they can only treat what they can. Then they ran away from us and refuse to come back. They keep sending nurses.”

Roy and Riza blinked, then looked at Al. The blond shrugged, red-rimmed eyes on Masuta. “Masuta’s like you, Roy. You are both really, really scary when you’re mad. I’m just happy he didn’t hurt them.” Al’s voice turned bitter. “Though they deserved being scared. They didn’t want to tell us anything until we cornered them.”

His voice broke halfway though the sentence. Riza and Masuta drew Al and Roy into a four way hug. The sense of support helped them all.

“He’ll be fine,” Riza said firmly. “He’s too stubborn to go down like this. After everything he’s been through, Edward Elric wouldn’t let some no-name alchemist take him out.”

The others murmured their agreement. Then Masuta pulled away. “His room is this way,” he said, pulling on both Riza and Roy. “You should come see him. It’ll help for him to know we are all waiting for him.”

The four moved down the hall, determination in their eyes.

They were not going to lose him now.
