The Planet is not a caring thing.

It is only concerned with itself, and the survival of a majority of its life. Humans never really matter, and given the situation, with the threat of the Calamity once again reaching out, the Planet was willing to sacrifice the last of the Cetra blood in order to deal with it. The last time the Calamity was active, it had almost destroyed the planet.

That would not be allowed again.

So when the last of the ones the Planet favored began to pray, and to reach out with Holy, the Planet was listening. It listened as she spoke of trying to stop the Calamity in its new form, of trying to save everyone.

The Planet didn’t care about saving people.

But when that tenuous connection registered shock, the Planet noticed.

It Felt that shock, and through the Cetra, it felt the steel. It felt the magic laced into the metal, ancient crafting, using to seal the Calamity.

This time, it used it to destroy the taint.

Reaching up, it poured itself through the Cetra child, forcing its way up that connections she had made. That was the important part. She had reached to it, and had started the connection. The Planet could use it any way it wanted. It rushed up, pushing through her into the blade. That ancient weapon, made by one of the ancient smith-mages that once lived on its surface, was as much magic as solid form. It carried the Planet’s touch in its heart, and so the Planet could move through it as much as it could through the girl.

Like a rush, the Planet used them both to channel pure power up and into the Calamity. It felt the shock and fear as it burned through the taint, vicious in the desire to finally be rid of the sickness. Without a mind to control the Calamity, the cells left behind were harmless. There was a shriek as it destroyed the being, burning away all the mind that controlled the cells. The power it did send out was enough to destroy the blade, the ancient magic unraveling and the metal simply fading.

Then, almost absently, it healed as it pulled away, leaving behind faded scars. The girl had provided what it needed, and while the Planet did not care about a single life, it was not unwilling to reward.

While it dealt with the Calamity, the Planet dealt with a few other issues as well.

In the north, great eyes long closed blinked open.

The Planet settled again. Things would be fixed, and it would finally be able to focus on healing.
