And set before the last one.

It was highly frustrating, honestly.

Cloud -knew- the man was interested. At least, he was pretty sure of it. But Angeal kept nudging him towards Zack. Or Tifa. Or even Reno.

It was enough to make him growl.

Which was why, when Angeal had looked up to ask him a question, Cloud had kissed him.

Really, it was as much a surprise to him as it was to Angeal.

Still, when he pulled back, face hot and ready to scamper away, he looked at the older man. The sheer hungry look in Angeal's face made him pause.

Then the other pulled him down, and Cloud was quite throughly and expertly kissed.

It was slow and hot and he felt the scrap of stubble as Angeal took the time to explore his mouth, arm looped around Cloud to keep the boy there. Cloud was just as happy to kiss back, even if he was a bit more unsure about his abilities than Angeal seemed.

Finally, Angeal pulled back. "You sure?" he said slowly, eyes locked on Cloud's. Cloud nodded, completely positive that he was sure.

Then Angeal just gave that smile that made Cloud's toes curl, and he pulled the blond closer, lips brushing over his face and throat, just light touches, the rasp of teeth against a spot on his throat that made Cloud shiver hard and his stomach flipflop.

It didn't take long for him just to cuddle close, breath fast, and then Angeal was kissing him again.

Cloud could die right now, and he was pretty sure he wouldn't regret much.

A little. But he was pretty happy at the moment.

It never got past kisses that night, but Cloud did get to wander around with several interesting marks on his throat that he kept hidden, and a lot of memories that were highly distracting at all the wrong times.

All in all, he would have to say his attempt at boldness was an success.

Now, to figure out where to go from here.

And for some Genesis things.

When he was younger, Genesis knew that he was, in theory, quite lucky. His parents were well off. They had a huge house, a thriving business, all the comforts one could want.

Not that he ever saw them.

His life was a constantly changing source of tutors, staff, people who came and went and he eventually stopped bother to remember names. Why bother to learn something that was going to be useless in a few months, after all?

There was one thing, though, that was always the same.

He met Angeal for the first time as the boy sat in an apple tree. He was tidy, if a bit ragged looking. Not messy, just not the shiny new that Genesis was so used to.

That was interesting.

And then, Angeal stayed.

For the longest time, Genesis waited. A month. Two months. Eventually the boy would leave. Everyone left. He knew he didn't help with his attitude, but when one got tired of mourning losses, it was easier to be flippant, to not have the ties in the first place. Which was murder on any real friendships.

Three months. Four. Genesis began to thaw, and he began to seek Angeal out.

Five, then six months. Then a year.

Angeal never left. He was alway there with a story of some sort, or a new thing to show Genesis. He knew where the best pond was for swimming, where to find the best apples to steal. He watched Genesis practice the piano and Genesis showed him what else there was that seemed so useless before.

For a boy who had everything except someone to be friends with, Angeal was the best thing he had ever had.

No wonder, as the years passed, Genesis had something of a "My Angeal, hiss" attitude.

And no wonder he developed something of a rivalry with Sephiroth when the younger boy arrived.

Genesis didn't like sharing.

But he would, if only because Angeal wanted him to.

Genesis would do anything for his friend.
