I have no idea where this came from. FFVII, Sephiroth POV

They call him insane. Mad, a lunatic. He hears they, whispering, talking as they are unaware he is there.

He is not. Not insane, not mad, or any other term they could apply that held the same meaning.

He is cold. Calculating. Just because he did not care did not make him insane. He had a goal, and he had a plan to reach that goal.

He is Sephiroth, and he is all too aware that the rest of the world are the ones who are mad. Mad, messy, worthless.

He is not insane. He is all too aware of how fragile such things were, and is aware that what they call insanity is simply their own fear of what he does.

Ruthless? Yes. Evil? Possibly, in their eyes. Insane?

No.

He simply doesn't care.

*tapes a paper written "NUTS" on the back of Seph's hair then sneaks off* >D

Seph is not crazy. He just thinks outside the box.

Reasons why I think of FF7 when I'm in criminology class, exhibit A: *flails at fict*

Lovely. I always adore ficts that are Seph-reflection, and this was quite the nice little fictlet.

Oh god, your icon scares the shit out of me. Reminds me of Silent Hill. (Of course, if it really did come from the Silent Hill movie which I did not see oh gods teh scares, then I wouldn't know. ^^;) It ALSO means I have to pimp this to make me feel better.

Woo, go four years worth of sociology minor!! :D

Of course he's not insane. He's perfectly normal....with a side order of batshit crazy. *waves from the anthropology side of the fence*

The technical term is sociopath, and in Seph's case possibly a sexual psychopath though it's debatable, and I'd only debate with Seph if I had Heero as my bodyguard.

So no, not insane per say, but there is a personality disorder and those are incurable. -bright smile and hides-

Of course, he wouldn't *care* about my diagnosis, but I care about my life.

When am I going to cave and get a Sephy icon?

FFVII should invade all aspects of your life. *innocent look*

I honestly don't know where it came from, but it was shiny, and I couldn't help but write it. Glad you liked it.

*laughs* That's one way to put it. So clinical, too. *grins*

*snugs you* Heero would be a good bodyguard. And it would give you time to run awaaaaay. Cause, yeah, I bet Sephiroth would have such issues being looked at so clinically.

Speaking as a person with a mental illness (chronic depression) I think you've nailed it beautifully. The rest of the world may well think Sephiroth is crazy, but they're just not in full posession of the facts of the matter. He's sane. The fact that his sanity doesn't comply with the consensus view is everyone else's problem. (Quite literally, in this case - he's powerful enough to alter the world to fit his view of how it should be).

I also agree he's likely to be suffering from what the rest of us would call a major personality disorder - but then again, given he's been treated as a thing rather than a person for the majority of his life, by the majority of people who dealt with him, this isn't surprising.

Glad you like it. I'm still not sure where it come from, but having a Sephiroth in your brain going "I'm not insane just because they don't like how I think" is very odd. I'm happy it came out so well. And, yeah, he is scarily powerful enough to reform the world along how his thoughts go.
