“Come on, it’ll be fun. And you’ll get to tell me what girls really do when they go to the bathroom in groups.”

“Come on, Spike, please?”

“What part of no don’t you get, Zack?”

Two sets of eyes, one glowing violet, the other bright blue, stared at each other, and Zack grinned. “You know you want to.”

“What part of “no” equals “I want to”, Zack? Tell me, because I need to be rid of it.”

Sephiroth was just watching this back and forth. “Zack, I am not sure what is going on, but I do not believe that Strife could pass himself off as a young lady, not matter how much you seem to wish otherwise.” He really was clueless, and something in the way Zack’s eyes lit up made him wish he hadn’t gotten involved.

“I don’t know, Seph,” Zack said. “With the right dress, some makeup, and doing something with that chocobo hair, I bet Spike could be a pretty good girl. However,” he crowed, ignoring Cloud’s squawk of indignation, he brandished a materia that looked faintly off color to Sephiroth. “That’s not the point. This deals with that.”

And, just like that, he cast something on Cloud, who squawked again. Something odd happened this time, and Sephiroth knew he heard a distinct change in Cloud’s voice. Wasn’t the boy too old for that?

Or, maybe on second thought, he was wrong about that. Blinking slightly, Sephiroth reached out and poked at the suddenly different form under the blue trooper shirt.

“Hey!” Cloud yelped, voice definitely higher. “Those are attached at the moment, though they better not be for long. Zack, turn me back!”

Well, wasn’t this interesting. “Zack, where did you get that materia?”

“Amazing what you find in the labs when you are bored and on duty. Lots of interesting materia they have up there, none of it fitting the normal colors. I tested it on other things first, and looked over the research notes. And it’s not like this isn’t something I haven’t done to myself or Spike before.”

Sephiroth paused. Zack had appeared like this before?

Interesting.

Fingers still resting on Cloud, who was starting to splutter and turn red, Sephiroth gave a long, considering look at Zack. Already his mind was offering several intriguing possibilities.

“Strife, calm down a moment. Zack, let me see that.”

He still didn’t know what they had been arguing about, but he had interesting plans of his own now.
