Fic: Living (
25_streetsigns theme 07)
Title: Living
Author/Artist: GW Katrina
Fandom: FFVII:
mercverse
Pairing/Character: Zack
Theme: 07-Detour
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: FFVII isn’t mine. The idea for
mercverse, however, is.
Living
Life had a funny way of taking unexpected paths.
He hadn’t expected to meet Cloud.
He certainly hadn’t expected to be adopted by Cloud.
Or be given the training to fully optimize his more than human strengths.
He hadn’t expected to be good at the mercenary work Cloud had started up on an almost idle whim.
Hadn’t expected to be stab like that, either. That had hurt. Healers hadn’t expected him to be able to walk again. But he proved them wrong. Just like he did when he woke up after that fall when he was younger.
Hadn’t expected to like the twins or Seph enough to sleep with them.
Hadn’t expected to run into Aeris.
And he didn’t expect to find himself trapped like this, facing off against an insane mage with no place to run.
“You’re out of room, little mutt. What do you plan to do now?” The woman sneered at him.
Zack grinned.
“Life is full of detours,” he said, then flung himself off the edge of the wall, off the cliff. This time, he hoped things went just as he expected. As he felt claws catch him and then pull him tight against a familiar body, Zack couldn’t help but let out a joyful laugh.
This was what living was all about.
