Because I'm evil, I'm going to toss up the next chapter of Images. It won't get posted for another few days, and the next one won't go up to be beta'd until this one is on the HoS comm, so I'm just torturing people who read my LJ now. *evil, pointy tooth grin* Fun, fun.

Let me know if I've got any missing bits.

He knew this feeling. He knew this place.

He couldn’t remember what had brought him here this time, but he knew that it wasn’t good.

He remembered pain. Then nothing.

Now it didn’t matter.

Now he stood before the Gate.

As he watched, the Gate cracked open. Even as the hands reached for him, he saw more of the Truth.

Once again, he saw so much that his mind couldn’t comprehend it. He swore that this would drive him mad one day. That always coming back here would break him in some way.

Most of the images speed by, fading into his memory before he could actually see them.

But some of the images were very clear.

His family. All of it. His father, his mother, his brother, his lovers.

They all appeared and vanished in a split second. In one, his father and he were fighting, Masuta looking unhappy in the background. In another, it was his mother, father, and Al when he was much younger.

He saw his lovers in black sashes, and then them being cheerful as they teased him about something.

All of this and more washed over him.

And then the hands curled around him.

Ed screamed.

Thanks. Saw/was gives me problems. Every. Single. Time. Usually I catch them, but I still miss an awful lot of them.

As for the sashes, I'm playing with possible futures. *grins* I've been taking cliffhanger lessons.
