Hmm, or the fact that the part of Cloud that might have made him able to cast magic is tied up in him being immortal? So sorry, this line is dedicated elsewhere.

I figured he could activate items/materia, like any non-mage does, but anything past a simple cantrip goes fizzle, cause he just can't swap out the power necessary. (Well, that's my theory anyways...)
