Does anyone know where Hojo was born? I have a fic idea, but it requires knowing if it's ever canonly said where Hojo was born at. Mostly I need to know if it's said for sure if he wasn't born in Nibelheim. As that town has such issues anyway....

But, yeah, if anyone has any idea, I really wouldn't mind hearing it.

As I said earlier, I don't think Hojo was a product of Nibelheim. However, given the existence of the Shinra manor, which appears to be unique to the district, I'm willing to bet the Shinra family might have been, or at least that the Shinra family that produced the former leader of the Shinra Electric Power Company was a cadet branch of the ruling family in the district around Nibelheim. It would account for why Cloud stuck out like a sore thumb as the only blond in the district.

Of course, my alternative theory for the Shinra family is that they started out in organised crime, and the move to corporate overlordship was made only a couple of generations back - possibly by Rufus Shinra's grandfather or great-grandfather. Great-grandfather sounds more likely, since that gives room for a couple of generations of "rebellion" producing swings back and forth between corporate and outright thuggery - Rufus agrees with his grandad that ruling through fear costs less, and achieves more. The Turks, in this explanation, are the remnants of the underworld mob the Shinras originally used to obtain a certain amount of capital, and thus "respectability". They still do bodyguarding and headkicking, they still wear suits, but these days they have to fill out the paperwork as well.

Those are interesting.

I actually have a family for Hojo for this idea, and it's rather...disturbing. Course, I have strange Hojo voices anyway. Otherwise I wouldn't have Gracious Hojo. *nods*

*goes to look up ages and glees*
