Resemblance
It was the similarities that got to her. From the moment her day was disturbed by the loud crashing and an even louder thud as he feel through her roof, it was the little things that got her the most.
The way he smiled sheepishly at her. The little shrugs he used. The longer she knew him, the more Aeris saw Zack in Cloud.
She wasn't sure how it had happened, but she found herself staying close to the man, spotting more and more of the little quirks and trying to understand it. It wasn't easy. It -hurt-. Sometimes Cloud would say something so Zack-like that she'd look up, expecting to see black hair and bright violet eyes, only to find blond and blue. It hurt.
Cloud was acting like Zack. Not exactly like him, but enough. Bits here. Bits there. Habits that broke her heart as she saw them.
She wondered what had caused this, what could have happened to bring her her Zack back like this. To be able to see him in the form of another, and she followed, wanting to know. Oh, she adored Cloud, but she didn't really know that much about him. Just what she saw, and so much of that was Zack, she wasn't sure where Zack ended and Cloud began.
She never knew how much she resembled Zack for Cloud.
He didn't realize it either for the longest time, but when he held her body, far too still and stained red, something in the back of his mind cringed at the similarities. Even if he didn't recall the memories then consciously, something did, and he reacted to that.
Cloud didn't understand where the thought of "at least I can give her something like a burial" came from. Not until later. Not until he remembered all of Nibelheim.
Not until he remembered Zack.
Then it hurt all over again, for the loss of them all.

Frogged
Oh, it had finally come!
Gleeing at the box, which one of his friends had had specifically delivered so it would get here fast, Zack carefully cracked it open, then slammed it shut. He started to snicker, then made sure that the box was shut tight.
Sephiroth, who had been trying valiantly to pretend he had not seen any of Zack's gleeing, found he couldn't ignore the snickering. "Zack?"
Oh. The innocent look. Never good. "Yes, Seph?"
"What are you doing?"
"Getting ready to go see Hojo. Wanna come?"
Sephiroth paused. On one hand, he was slightly curious on what would send Zack to see a man he normally avoided like the plague. On the other, if he wasn't there, he couldn't be caught up in the situation.
However, he would still end up with the paper work.
Then the box ribbeted.
He found himself following.
///
Hojo had been having a most productive day. Several experiments were going well, and he had been untroubled by fools.
"Hey there, Doc."
Well, so much for that. Scowling, he turned to face that exasperating second of Sephiroth's. The man was holding a box, and Sephiroth was behind him. Wondering what had brought both of them here, he locked his focus onto the first man. "What do you want, Fair?"
"Aw, that's not so nice," the man chirped. Hojo felt his eye twitch. "And here I was, bringing you an odd specimen for you to study."
Hojo blinked, and he could see the just as confused expression on Sephiroth's face.
"Specimen?"
Fair nodded. "Yep. Here."
Just like that, he opened the box and tossed the contents of the inside at Hojo, SOLDIER fast.
Hojo had a moment to blink almost stupidly down at the frog that was clinging to his chest before he felt everything poof. Then he and the frog were at the same level. He tried to say something, but the only sound that came out was a rather loud croak.
"See? I -told- you touch-mes were real, Seph. Now run, before it targets us. They're fast bastards."
Hojo croaked again as he heard the men retreat, and watched as a lab technician became a frog. Physical change caused naturally by a creature? Fascinating.
He would have Fair collect more.
Personally.

Intentions
Of all the ways Ifalna expected this to go, this was not one of them. At all.
Gast was her captor, someone who endangered the entire planet. Through his actions, the Calamity was free again, and her child roamed the world, even if she felt sorry for the poor boy.
She never expected to fall in love.
She wasn't sure how it had happened. She really wasn't. But she had, and she was going to have to change some things.
For so long, her life had revolved around her task, the duty she had taken up so long ago. To make sure that the Calamity remained quiet, remained sealed. Now that that task had failed, she had to find something new. One that she had already found.
She had never intended to fall in love, but she had. She had been asleep for far too long, tied up in a duty she couldn't fulfill now. Now she was going to make a life here. A life here in this world.
A life with her husband, and the child she carried.
